Sam Darnold Misses Wednesdays Practice With a Foot Sprain

According to the New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was held out of Wednesday’s practice with a foot sprain, he was seen walking around practice with a walking boot on his right foot. Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News reports he will be out this Sunday against the Bills and will be reevaluated after next weeks bye to determine his status for their week 12 match-up against the Patriots. This is unfortunate for the rookie quarterback who is coming off his worst game this year against the Dolphins last week, throwing 4 interceptions in a 13-6 loss.

This news isn’t freaking me out like some of the Jets fans I am seeing on social media, the kid has a banged up foot and with a sloppy game against Buffalo coming up behind this offensive line in this stagnant offense – I’m perfectly okay with letting Sam sit and heal up. This 2018 season is all about Sam’s experience and getting him acclimated as an NFL starting quarterback, he can’t do that if he hurts his foot even more this week and misses a significant amount of time. With the bye week coming up next week this allows two weeks for Sam to sit and heal while watching from the sideline this week, he’ll be back ready to go against the Patriots in week 12 – that’s just my opinion though.

For all the fans out there who are clamoring for Todd Bowles to be fired, think about this for a second. So our rookie quarterback is out this week against a bad Bills team that’s coming to town, imagine the Bills come here and beat the Jets without the excuse of having a rookie quarterback playing. Another bad loss this weekend against the Bills will sure as hell be the end of Bowles, because in my opinion I’m still scared that this front office will bring him back for the 2019 season. If that’s the case then I am fairly concerned with how Sam Darnold will continue to progress being around this staff, but we’ll save that talk for another time. Sam is banged up, it happens guys – he’ll be back.
